This 146 minute program is divided into three separate sections and reviews critical data regarding safety in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) environment. With current information, MRI healthcare professionals are better able to ensure patient and staff safety and optimize MRI facility guidelines.
Internationally respected, MRI safety researcher, and educator, Dr. Frank G. Shellock, developed the program, Advanced MRI Safety Training for Healthcare Professionals, Level 2 MR Personnel, which provides essential information pertaining to all critical aspects of MRI bioeffects, patient management and safety. With current information, healthcare professionals will ensure safety for patients and staff members, while optimizing MRI facility policies and procedures.
This program reviews fundamental MRI safety protocols and meets the annual training recommendations from the American College of Radiology. Importantly, MRI facilities must now comply with the revised requirements for diagnostic imaging from The Joint Commission and document that MRI technologists participate in ongoing education that includes annual training on safe MRI practices in the MRI environment. As such, Advanced MRI Safety Training for Healthcare Professionals, Level 2 MR Personnel covers each MRI safety topic specified by The Joint Commission, as well as many additional subjects that will expand the knowledge-base of healthcare professionals.
This 53 minute program provides basic information regarding MRI technology, describes common hazards and unique dangers associated with the MRI environment, and presents guidelines and recommendations to prevent accidents and injuries. This training program is appropriate for medical and other personnel who may occasionally or periodically encounter MRI facilities as part of their employment and emphasizes the potential hazards of the MRI environment and the necessary safety precautions that particularly impact such groups. This program reviews fundamental MRI safety protocols and meets training recommendations set by the American College of Radiology and the requirements of the Joint Commission.
Internationally respected, MRI safety researcher and educator, Dr. Frank G. Shellock developed this comprehensive, 53 minute program specifically to educate Level 1 MR Personnel as defined by the American College of Radiology.
This program provides an overview of MRI safety information that is intended for non-clinical staff members who regularly work in the MRI environment or who may occasionally work in this area as part of their responsibilities. Anyone who enters the MRI environment, even infrequently, must be properly trained to ensure their safety, the safety of patients, and other facility staff members
After completion of a short online exam, with a passing score of 70% or higher, this program provides a Statement of Participation.
Because of the apparent growing incidence of accidents that occur in the MRI setting, it is vital to provide MRI safety training to MRI technologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals involved with MRI technology in order to reduce the number of serious problems that occur in the MRI environment.
Of further note is that MRI facilities must be prepared for the revised requirements from the Joint Commission for Diagnostic Imaging Services, which went into effect in July 2015. As part of the new requirements, the facility must document that MRI technologists who perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations participate in ongoing education that includes annual training on safe MRI practices in the MRI environment.
